The Singla Pass trek, also known as the Ruby Valley trek, is a newly introduced trekking program in the central Himalayan range in Nepal. This trek takes you deep within the Ganesh Himal region (between Dhading and Nuwakot districts).

It is a short camping trek. If you do not want to do a camping trek, check out our Ruby Valley trek package. It is a teahouse trek that includes Singla Pass and some other pristine villages.

The Singla Pass trek 8 days is a remote, off-the-beaten-path trek in Ruby Valley. This trek presents a break from the popular treks in Nepal and lets you spend time in raw nature.

As the Singla Pass trek explores the beautiful villages, you will see the lifestyle and culture of different Nepali ethnic groups in the mountains. The Tamang community will be the main ethnic group on the Singla Pass trail.

You can extend the Singla Pass trek to Ganesh Himal Base Camp and to superb alpine lakes such as Kalo Daha and Seto Daha. You'll need 4 to 6 more days.

What to expect during the Singla Pass trek 8 days?

The Singla Pass trek is adventurous and quite unique from other treks in the Himalayas. It is not a very high altitude trek. The highest point you will reach on the Singla Pass trek is 4,050 meters.

Best time to do the Singla Pass trek

The best time to do the Singla Pass trek is March to May (spring) and late September to November (autumn). You will also enjoy this trek in the winter season, December to February.

Between June and mid-September, the trail is quite affected by heavy rainfall. The lower hills are at high risk of landslides. Likewise, the trails are slippery and muddy.

Singla Pass Trek Detailed Itinerary

01Day

Arrival in Kathmandu

Our representatives will welcome you at the airport. They will escort you to the hotel in Thamel, the tourist hub of Kathmandu. You can spend some time resting and unpacking. Later, we will meet for the trip briefing. After that, you can do last-minute shopping and pack your duffel bags.

02Day

Drive from Kathmandu to Bhalche

Today, you will leave Kathmandu and start the journey to Singla Pass. Following a scenic highway, you will drive to Bhalche. You can see beautiful views of lush hills, terraces, rivers, and waterfalls on the way.

03Day

Trek from Bhalche to Gongga

The trek begins from Bhalche. Following a beautiful trail, you will hike to Gongga village. The trail goes through lush forests and terraces. Cross small settlements on the way. Enjoy nature's splendor and peace.

04Day

Trek from Gongga to Rupchet

The trek begins from Bhalche. Following a beautiful trail, you will hike to Gongga village. The trail goes through lush forests and terraces. Cross small settlements on the way. Enjoy nature's splendor and peace.

05Day

Trek from Rupchet to Singla Pass and descend to Machet Kharka (4,130 m /13,550 ft)

You will cross the Singla Pass on this day. From Rupchet, you will ascend via meadows and follow a rugged uphill track that leads to the top of the pass. From the top of the pass, you can see stunning mountain vistas. The trail then descends to Machet Kharka, where you will spend the night.

06Day

Trek from Machet Kharka to Sertung Village

Start the day early with a delicious breakfast and get ready to trek to Sertung village. The trail descends from Machet Kharka. You will go through lush forests and terraces.

07Day

Descend from Sertung village to Borang Gaon (1,660 m/5,446 ft) and drive from here to Kathmandu via Dhading Besi (612 m/2,008 ft)

From Sertung village, you will descend to Borang Gaon. It will be around 4 to 5 hours, descending through forested hills and terraced fields. At Borang Gaon, you will take a local jeep and drive to Dhading Besi.

We may change our vehicle here and use a local bus to drive back to Kathmandu. The guide will drop you at the hotel in Kathmandu. The remaining day is free to rest and explore Thamel.

08Day

Final departure

Our team will drop you off at the international airport. Make sure you are ready to leave the hotel on time.

To walk 6 hours a day during the Singla Pass trek, you have to be in good shape. So, start exercising and walking regularly before the trek begins. Give yourself at least 6 to 8 weeks to improve your strength and stamina.

You will start trekking from 1,850 meters (Bhalche) and go over 3,000 meters (Gongga) on the first day of hiking. The altitude gain is quite quick on the Singla Pass trek, which means the risks of altitude sickness are high.

Previous trekking experience is highly recommended. If you are a beginner trekker, at least do a couple of day hikes before starting the Singla Pass venture.

Communication and charging

Wi-Fi is rare on the Singla Pass trek route, and the mobile network is also not good. On this trek, you will go off-grid. We equipped our trek guide with a satellite phone for emergency communication with us.
